#1 reason why my guy is the best!

After hearing that Kim Kardashian was charging $600, 000 for her to attend your New Year's Eve party, my guy came up with his OWN brilliant offer.

Enjoy ... and maybe take him up on it!!! From his Facebook page HERE.

87th time's the charm!

I think I'm finally ready to finally kick my fear of writing on a regular basis.
Be prepared for weird stuff, funny stuff and odds and ends.

Hopefully something of substance will come of it!

Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Back on track.

Well folks, Depletapalooza had to go on the backburner for a wee bit as I had to work the Rogers Cup tournament and then became quite sick for a couple of weeks.

I'm finally feeling back to my normal self and will resume the attack on all the crap I seem to be subconsciously attached to.

Can't wait to see what else I dig up in here!

Day 5 decluttering had the following occur:

- moved some artwork from library to front entrance (had not been properly displayed in library)
- lunchboxes that had been in the living room are now displayed on top of one of the larger bookcases in library next to Betty Boop lunchboxes / purses
- threw out a bunch of expired condoms (yes, for real -HAHAHAHA)
- decided that end table near front entrance will now house all puzzles, puzzle-related items and all New York tournament packages to date .... that means all pictures and photo albums currently residing in there will be sorted through and either thrown out or recatalogued (and all of these activities will be dealt with in a couple of weeks)
- replaced all old magazines in bathroom with other old ones - at least they're getting read now!

And am now working on a wee bit more that includes:

- reshelving books in library so that one shelf can be free for small doodads and stuffed animals that are just sitting around on the floor right now
- going through medicine cabinet making sure that empty boxes are recycled and all expired medicine and aspirin get tossed out

I'm working most of next week so I won't have much time to tidy or organize. Will try to do at least one small task each day before I head out (maybe shredding and doing dishes) so that I don't lose momentum. Very pleased this is all going so well right now! Yay!

Since turning 40 in May (oh yeah - guess I should write about that sometime too!) I've been thinking more about life in general and what happened to me in the first 4 decades of my life.

This has been quite overwhelming and a wee bit depressing at times, but it's made me aware of my day-to-day activities, habits (both good and bad) and what I have and have not accomplished in my life. So far.

It also made me realize that certain things are most definitely out of my control, but the things that are in my control really aren't being tended to so I'm taking steps to making a change.
Baby steps, of course.

I took a book out of the library titled "It's All Too Much: An Easy Plan For Living A Richer Life With Less Stuff" by Peter Walsh and it's made me see my home and my possessions from a completely different perspective.
If you are in the mood for spring / fall cleaning or just want to shake things up a bit at home, I cannot recommend this book enough.

It's had such an impact on me that I have gone gangbusters enough to give a name to my decluttering: DEPLETAPALOOZA!!
I'm trying to not feel like I have too much on my plate so I'm breaking down the cleaning and reorganizing into small segments each day. Listing what I've done each day on here will, I believe, help me remember what I've done and also keep my motivation up to continue this amazingly freeing activity. Heck, maybe it can even spark something in one of you readers to start your own little cleanup! :P

This is what I've done so far.

Days 1 to 4 consisted of:

- emptying 2 bins of stuff from under bed and trashing / recycling most of the contents
- going through huge stack of newspapers / magazines and reading and recycling them
- starting daily shredding (10 minutes a day)
- cleaning off table in living room
- dustbusting hard-to-get-at corners in living room
- whackloads of backed-up laundry
- finding and sorting old report cards
- organizing bills and paystubs in folder
- going through fridge and throwing out old gross "food"
- thoroughly cleaning off file drawers by front entrance and starting organization inside
- taking lunchboxes off of small bookcase in living room and replacing with dvds and TIFF programmes / binder of tickets
- donating 30 books and a few old toys to a shelter

Some of it doesn't sound like much, but altogether it's quite a handful!

Will keep posting little tidbits each day so that I can (1) stay on track, and (2) get back into the habit of writing. If I keep my head on straight and don't put so much pressure on myself to write something perfect every single time I post, I should be able to have a cool blog again!

Happy Depletapalooza everyone!

Back for real this time!

December 1st was my last post on here .... how sad is that?

Time to REALLY get out of my head and back in action.

It's not the most exciting post but at least I'm writing something, right?

I'll be back in a few hours after I've had my coffee and cereal.
